Due to the demanding and highly specialized nature of this profession, FBI Special Agents must meet or exceed rigorous entry requirements. All FBI Special Agents must be a U.S. citizen or a citizen of the Northern Mariana Islands. They must also be between the ages of 23 and 36 upon hiring, although veterans applying for an FBI Special Agent position may be older than 37.
